Helping Families Get The Sleep They Need And Deserve

I firmly believe that a well-rested baby is a happy one. I also believe it’s essential for parents as caregivers to get good, restful sleep, so helping our infants sleep well impacts positively on the family as a whole. I’m a mother of two girls, living in Dubai and had two very different sleepers as babies. My first was a dream sleeper, fell asleep for every nap unassisted in her cot, and slept through the night at a very young age, and I naively thought this was going to be the case with my second child. I was in for quite a shock! She refused to sleep in her cot for naps, so all her naps were either in my arms or in a sling with lots of walking and assisting to sleep.

Overnight was marginally better as she would sleep in her cot, but after a feed, she often had difficulty settling back to sleep. I was tired and frustrated and wanted to sleep train her but didn’t know what to do or where to start. My confidence was shaken after having such an easy time with my first child. My sister came to visit, and with her help, we got her into her cot for her naptimes. It was a game-changer for us. She was happier having good restorative naps, and I had the time I needed when she napped to get my jobs done. I realised I needed that help and support to set her up in her cot. My other sister helped look after my older child, and I realized it does take a village!

Sometimes, it can be hard to do it by yourself, and you need someone to guide you a little and give you the confidence to see it through. It took time and patience, and I stayed consistent with our routine when there were any developmental milestones or regressions. She is now an independent sleeper who loves to go to bed and get a good night’s sleep. I believe that teaching your child to learn to fall asleep independently is a life skill, and I trained to be a Sleep Consultant to help families help their children with whatever sleep issue they may be encountering with their little one, to create positive sleep associations and help families get the rest they all need.
